Hello again Matt, We are glad you are doing your homework on this. 1. At this time the ZX7 is only available with 64MB video memory. We can tell that the difference is not huge but it is noticeable with double the memory. Do you use this for games or for work? The memory difference is important to achieve a fractional improvement in 3D gaming performance. When playing today's games it seems every little bit helps. If you need 128MB you can always check out our GX6 or GX8. 2. Currently we can offer 802.11b only. At the time of production of the ZX7 there were some bugs and other concerns with the 802.11g standard which have been worked out in the newest chipsets. These modules are being produced now and should appear in the ZX7 in the near future. At that time the module inside the ZX7 may be upgradeable (not 100% sure yet). If so you will have an option to send it in for an upgrade or you can purchase the module through us and we can have our techs talk you through it over the phone. 3. The default 8x DVD / 24X10X24X CD-R/W combo drive is an 8X DVD-ROM (Reader) and 24X CD Burner. Yes, our Toshiba drive is the DVD Writer that you can configure with your ZX7. As far as we know that is the fastest DVD Burner available for laptops in the U.S. market at this time. There will be a 4X coming out soon that you can purchase and use with your ZX7. The 8X DVD drive you see with the other company's 51 laptop is a reader not a writer. We don't believe we see a DVD writer as an option at all in their machine. Can you point it out if you see one? 4. The floppy drive is a standard device. You can remove it if you wish but you will receive it with your Aviator ZX7. 5. The memory we offer is tested and certified for our systems. When these laptops are built here we put them through a series of rigorous tests which show us the performance and stability of the entire package. Yes, of course you may purchase memory independently from your ZX7 and it should work but it will not be covered by our complete warranty and it may be difficult to pin-point errors should they come up during normal operation. Naturally, we all want to save money and we are not telling you that you NEED to purchases your memory with your Aviator laptop but it is advisable. We would say if the price difference is small always stick with the manufacturer of your notebook. Then again, if it is big savings then more power to you, go ahead and save some cash. 5. The turn-around time for a non-painted ZX7 is about 2 weeks. We suggest that if you need it you place an order ASAP and send an e-mail to orderstatus@hypersonic-pc.com indicating that you need a "RUSH JOB" and we will push it as much as we can (send a Cc to sales as well). Keep in mind that no system ever ships out of here unless we are thoroughly satisfied with its performance and stability. The complaints you read about on resellerratings.com are very few compared with the amount of systems we ship out. Every business has times when things don't run as smoothly as we like them to. If a system is late it is usually because that customer calls to change around their order a number of times (which they don't mention) or due to lack of performance or perfection of the system (each system has to live up to our standard in order to make it out of here). At times there may also be a shortage of parts. As of yesterday, we got no reports of any shortages. We typically ship on schedule (and sometimes ahead) but lateness does happen, with everyone. We hope to hear from you again soon.
