In a Nutshell, Wiki is a content management system that allows any authorised user, the ability to add/edit/delete their own, and anyone elses web page content.

Any site that is Wiki enabled has a SandBox area where people can practice adding/editing/deleting content.

The SandBox is a good place to get started.
