Steve, PLEASE announce Intel PowerBooks

I totally agree with Dion. For the love of God, pppplllllleeeeeeeaaaaaaasssssseeeee announce Intel-based ass-kicking PowerBooks tomorrow!! I love my PowerBook, but I hate the speed. It's extremely frustrating developing in Java on it, especially when I spend 60% of my time on a dual-core AMD 64. If Apple doesn't announce new PowerBooks tomorrow, it's likely I'll buy a Ferrari instead.

I just went to purchase a Mac Mini for my parents at CDW and they're not selling them on-line today. I wonder if this has anything to do with the upcoming announcements?

Don't buy the Ferrari, Intel just announced the dual-core Centrino and AMD will follow later this year. Can't wait to get one. This cpu might be inside the new Powerbooks.

That would be quite a surprise. The rumor mill suggests some laptop upgrades but we'll see. I'm hoping for a kick-ass Media Mac to replace the pile of crap DVR Comcast gave me!

You're so strange, why wait. Do buy a Ferrari! I have one. And it just rocks! I've never worked on anything as fast as this one. My 2Ghz G5 iMac just doesn't come close.

How is your dual-core AMD working out? I'm in the market for a new desktop and was looking at them over the standard P4 Intel chip. I wish I had a wife that would run out and buy me a dual-core machine over a little harddrive problem. :) Who knows. Maybe instead of an AMD dual-core I'll be able to go get an Intel Powerbook. That would be nice! Erik

Erik, it's working out great! I got a TV Tuner tonight and hooked up my machine to Media Center - which is waaayyyy cool. I've also been using Skype to video conference with my family. With 3 GB of RAM, I haven't had any issues - while the rest of my family is struggling with their machines.

Two MacBook Pro models: 1.67 GHz Core Duo for 1999 USD, 1.83 GHz for 2499 USD. Ships in February. Both models have 667 MHz DDR busses, an ATi x1600 graphics card, iSight/FrontRow etc. and weigh 2.8kg (not lighter than previous models).
