I think the worst of the storm is over, it didn't snow all afternoon and most of the roads are snow-free. The only bad roads are in the neighborhoods. Driving into my house tonight reminded me of driving into the Cabin (in Montana) when I was a kid. I spent a couple of hours shoveling out the driveway today, and couldn't help the urge to digitize my work on video (QuickTime, 2.7 MB).
Where did our fence go?
Hard Work
Our house is drowning in snow!
Dave is optimistic about our Wrox Chapters. We received an e-mail over the weekend stating that we should wait a week or two to see how things shake out. My guess is, if we wait, nothing will come. Just a hunch. I've seen a lot of empty promises in my career and this definitely feels like one. I really, really hope it's not though. Thanks to all for the encouraging words about this book - I hope you can read it someday, and I also hope I can get a kickback from neglecting my wife and child through the Christmas Holiday. If all else fails, at least I won't be so excited about writing a book next time (if there is a next time) and maybe I'll learn to just say no.
Winter Park has the best snow report that I've ever seen. 43.5 inches in the last 24 hours!! Too bad you can't get in (all the roads are closed). As a friend of mine said today, "It's a local's paradise."

Oh man, I've never loved Colorado as much as I do now. This snow is fricken swweeettt. I got stuck in our driveway last night, trying to bash my way in. The snow was up to the hood of our Jeep Cherokee and when I hiked into the house, it was about 4 inches above my knees! It's been snowing all night and we probably got another foot last night. I spent an hour last night and shoveled the driveway enough to park in the garage. I'm going to re-dig the driveway out, throw on some chains and find a good sledding hill.
I can't believe that Alaska Airlines flew into this sucker last night - they're my new favorite airline. Most things are closed, my office is closed, and most roads are closed. In some cities (Aurora and Ft. Collins), it's now against the law to drive on city streets. I'll take my phone camera and hopefully do some mophoto-ing today. Too bad Julie has the good digital camera - oh well. In the meantime, check out this slideshow of the 2-7 feet of snow we have!!
