New Phone?

I just got an interesting SMS message from AT&T:

AT&T Wireless: Sony
Ericsson and AT&T
Wireless have sent
you a new T226
phone to replace
your current T68 -
no strings attached.
Questions? Call
800-500-3821.

Wierd eh? Is there something wrong with the T68i? I'll admit that the T226 looks a bit nicer, but when I get a new phone - I'd like to go all out. In other words, I'll be talking to Russ to get his recommendation.

The better question is "what's wrong with the T226?" because it's a far inferior phone than the T68i it's replacing. Look here for more info: http://www.studio2f.com/archives/000441.php . It doesn't have Bluetooth for one. I would suggest a T616 which is one of the nicest phones on the market and really small (if a little underpowered on the Java front). If you don't mind the size, the 3620 is a Symbian Series 60 phone and insanely powerful (look at my website for details on all the apps you can run on it: IM, IRC, FTP, SSH, Video, Word/Powerpoint viwer, etc.) and this version is "better" because there's no round keypad. The 3200 is great because it's an EDGE phone, which means it can act as a pretty fast modem for your laptop. The 6800 has that tripped out fold-out keyboard, but because it's a Series 40 phone, there's not a lot you can do with the keyboard. The Treo 600 is obviously very nice as well - if you like Palm, then that's a great PDA replacement. The others are pretty much generic MMS color flip phones. If you buy a Moto MPx200 I'll unsubscribe, and I'm not kidding. :-) -Russ

WHY? Why oh WHY do your fold-out comments never ever work on IE?? (at least all this week they've never worked). Wait, I stand corrected - they don't work on Mozilla either. :-(

The T68i's have had many problems, including bad reception in North America and random deletion of address book entries. The T226 doesn't doesn't have half of the features the T68i does. If you are a T68i user and you want AT&T to offer you a T616 instead, feel free to sign this letter: http://attletter.winstrands.com
