JBoss Announcement next Tuesday

Any idea what the JBoss Announcement will be next Tuesday? Since he's laughing at Oracle, I'm guessing they hired a prominent MyFaces developer - or they've "acquired" a prominent database developer (i.e. PostgreSQL). What's your guess? Will it really be that impressive, or just impressive for JBoss employees?

I believe the Mills he is referring to is the one mentioned in the IBD article - Steve Mills from IBM, rather than Duncan Mills from Oracle?

Isn't he laughing at IBM...or was there something else that made you think Oracle? Whichever it is, its peaked my interest.

Doh! You are correct, that's what I get for not reading the article! After reading it, I suspect that they're going to announce something that undermines IBM's purchase of Gluecode.

My new guesses: JBoss with a BSD license or JBoss goes public.

I don't think Mill's would take notice of an individual hire. I'm guess either a new relationship with MySQL (IBM's cloudscape), or the whole Gavin/Rod fighting is just a ruse and JBoss is aquiring Interface 21.

Well, the by biggest change possible would be to change license... uhm, I mean, to get a license in the first place (since the current LGPL license doesn't apply). A "move" to either BSD or GPL would make sense. Since the JBoss Portal code is GPL, I would lean towards that though. We'll just have to wait and see :-)

Acquisition of Interface 21 is unlikely as they just announced SEAM, which, by the looks of it, will be competing with Spring.
